Tsengwen Reservoir
The largest reservoir in Taiwan, situated in the valley that borders Chiayi County’s Dapu Township and Tainan Country’s Nanxi township. The reservoir is amidst numerous mountains with a wide surface, creating a magnificent scene.
It was initially built to compensate for the lack of storage capcity at Urushan reservoir in Tainan’s Shanhutan reservoir, and is one of the most important hydraulics construction for the Chianan Plain area, as it provide irrigation, flood control, hydroelectricity, and acts as a vacation area.
Tourist destinations include Tsengwen’s eye, Niaogong graden, and the main dam scenic area.
Distance from the center: the center is located within the reservoir scenic area.
Riverside recreation area
The area used to be the aggregate processing area when the damn was being built. After re-organization, it is now a multi-purpose recreational park that can be used for water activities, physical training, and bird watching.
The area is very expansive, and most facilities were built from or added to the original buildlings.

Tsengwen’s eye
Tsengwen’s eye is a structure that is literally shaped like an eye, and is situated on a narrow stretch of land next to Niaogong garden. It is surrounded by tree and mountains in front, and a stream behind it, creating a beautiful scenery.
The designer, Mr. Shi-zong Ye, deftly used the shape of an eye to allocate the structural mass, so that visitors that enters this service center can immediately identify this unique scenery of the Tsengwen reservoir area. Its unique exterior has made it into one of the local landmarks.

Xuankong Temple (Yongxing suspension bridge)
Xuankong Temple was established by the founding abbott, master Quan-zhen. The temple area is approximately three hectares, and has a trail that incorporates pines, rocks, fossil wood, and night views, to create a quiet and harmonious beauty that is an amlagamation of the natural element and manmade structures.
The Yongsing suspension bridge is currently the only suspension bridge that crosses over Tsengwen River. After it was destroyed by Typhoon Korsa in 2007, the bridge was rebuilt over three years. The new bridge with the approach road is almost 500m long, 2m wide. The bridge is puple in color, giving it another unique feature.
The bridge overlooks Tsengwen River, providing access to beautiful sceneries.
LED has been built into the bridge, which lights up in the evening, creating a different look at night. It is fast becoming a new tourist attraction.

Jiang family historical residence
A Minnan style building over 300 years old that has been very well preserved. It is mostly build from red bricks, and covers over three hectares.
From the earth-brick style, bamboo-weave style, and red brick style and granolith style houses can all be found here, providing testament to the development of the traditional rural villages and tribes.
When the Jiang family first moved to Taiwan, as the bandits in Nanxi were rampant, they planted large expanse thorn bamboo groves outside their buildings for protection, and also trained in Song Jiang Battle Array, which is of significance and has been one of the major features in Taiwanese tradition and culture.
There are still 20 or so families living in the area, so please remain courteous when visiting the residence.

Plum ridge
Plum ridge is the country’s largest plum forest, and is also a well-know mountain climbing trail on the Tainan outskirt. Plum flower season is January and February of each year, which is also the busiest tourist season. During this time plum blossom cover the mountain and all the trails are filled with flower-viewing visitors. All types of plum-related souvenirs can also be found on sale during this time.
In addition, February-April is purple peony season, April-May is firefly season, and July-August is wild lily season.

Yujin Hutou Mountain & old street
The Yu Ching-fang memorial situated on the top of Hutou Mountain in Yujing, commemorating the Anti-Japanese resistance that occured in 1915.
The anti-Japan hero Ching-fang Yu used Hutou Mountain as his base of resistance, and tens of thousands were massacred by the Japanese army, which was so harsh it even led to the Japanese parliament protesting this brutality.
The memorial is thus in commenmoration of the valiant efforts of those pople for current and future generations.
The view at the peak of the mountain provide a expansive view of the surrounding areas.
The Yujing mango ice sold on the old street is also famous far and wide.

I-Kuan Tao Holy Glory Temple
Established in 1973, it is I-Kuan Tao’s largest temple, grand and magnificent looking, it not only draws the faithfuls, but also visiting tourists. It has become well known and has been selected as one of the top eighteen destinations of Tainan County.

Gamagaju Temple
Gamagaju Temple is the Tibetan buddahist’s (kagyu branch) forest monastery in Tainan, and is the first one in Taiwan.
Planned and built in 1985, it is a unique combination of Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist temple, the Buddha sheli stupa is particularly eye-catching, so the mountain where the temple is situated is also known as Stupa mountain.

Gueidan hot spring
Gueidan hot spring is a weakly basic carbonic acid hotspring, and is a outcrop hotspring that is hidden among the riverbed in the valley. The hot spring is approximately 34C with five sources, and each source’s smell and color are all different, and includes salt spring, smelly spring, clear spring, warm spring, and turbid spring. It is also know as the five elements spring. Even though it is in a remote area, its surrounding peaks and primitive, natural sceneries make it worth a visit.
